Remember in February I blogged about my favorite slippers that my dear friend JoAnn had made for me?
They had died, and I couldn’t wear them anymore.
Well, I have great news! JoAnn knitted and felted a new pair of slippers for me. Hurray! Aren’t they gorgeous?!?!?
Clown feet!
HeeHeeHee! That’s what they looked like when JoAnn first brought them to my house. There’s a whole knitting and felting process involved in creating these comfy masterpieces.
First JoAnn knitted them. After knitting, they looked like this. Miss Tuxedo is curious.
They were a little big for me at this point. You think?!?!?!???
But they weren’t finished yet. They still had to be felted. To felt them, we had to put them in a lingerie bag and then in the washer in hot water and sudsy Woolite.
Then we had to check them to make sure they were shrinking. I had to try them on – all wet and icky!
Still getting them smaller.
After they had shrunk to the size I needed, then we had to rinse them in cold water, stuff them with plastic bags, shape them, and let them dry.
And then wear them!
They are so warm and comfy, comfy, comfy!!
I’ll have to put them away for the summer very soon, but I’ve been able to still wear them some because of cool nights.
JoAnn thinks the holes in the old ones were probably at least partly caused by little moths that love to get into wool. She says I need to get some moth balls – Eeewwww!
Actually, she says there’s stuff that smells like lavender that works the same. I’ll have to get some.
Thank you, JoAnn!!!!!
Very cosy Dawn…enjoy.
Mex LOVES mothballs!!!!!
Go, Mex! 🙂
They look so cozy 😉
Oh – they are!!!!
Make that a midget clown……only short people have feet that tiny!
HaHaHa! Short people don’t need big feet.
Lovely! Even if they were like clown feet (they aren’t!), those dang clowns would be mighty comfy with those slippers!
You bet!
You are more than welcome! I’m so glad you like them! I think you repaid me with the chocolate covered strawberry!
The chocolate covered strawberries were awesome! But the slippers are awesommer!! 🙂
Very fetching, Dawn. I’ve heard that if you stick sprigs of Rosemary in them when you’re not wearing them, the bugs will leave them alone.
Thanks for that information, Cindy. I’ll have to try that.
