A couple of years ago (I think it was a couple of years ago – I lose track of time) my dear friend, JoAnn, knitted and felted a pair of slippers for me. They are so warm and comfy, I wear them all winter long. They fit my tiny size 5 feet exactly because JoAnn goes through a whole process to match them to the new owner. I’m not sure about all the ins and outs of the process – that’s JoAnn’s department – but I know that I love them, love them, love them!
And since I work from home, that means I wear them a lot! During the winter, I put them on when I get out of bed in the morning and keep them on until I go back to bed that night – unless I go outside. Although, I have at times worn them outside to take out the trash, get the newspaper, check the mail, etc. Oooops!
That is, I “wore” them a lot up until now. Since I wear them every day – sometimes all day – during the winter, they have had to endure a great deal of abrasion. And now I can’t wear them anymore because they are worn out!
This is what they look like on the bottom now when I put them on.
And this is what they look like on the bottom after I walk around in them for a while.
I start tripping over the pieces that stick down from the bottom. Talk about tripping over your own feet. What’ll I do?!?!?!??
(Oooops! Song interlude.)
Now I have to go back to wearing these furry creatures. (I took these pictures upside down. Pretty creative, huh?. . . Don’t answer that.)
These have kind of thick soles and they’re a little big. But at least they’re warm!
JoAnn feels sorry for me. She’s going to make me some new comfy felted slippers. Hurray!

Oh my, I do fancy a pair of Jo-Ann’s myself, wonder if she’s thought of branching out into export?
Now that’s an idea!
S ;-( RRY!
Love you music.
Thank you!
Morning Dawn….that hint was NOT subtle!!! 🙂
No?!?!?!? I’m afraid I’ve never been really good at “subtle.” 🙂
Funny, I had the feeling that this was somehow going to lead to twisting JoAnn’s arm!
Maybe she should put a little more heart and sole into the next set?
At least a little more sole, maybe? Hilarious, colonialist!
Yay! Lucky you! I’m lucky to have an expert knitter for one of my nieces! I’ll show her the photo of your (former) slippers!
I love it when there is someone who is an expert at something I can’t do!
Yes….I’ll work my fingers to the bone….just because you shuffle your feet when you walk! LOL
Oh! I’m not supposed to shuffle? Good grief! Thank you, dear friend. (Oooops – Song Interlude) – “Boney Fingers” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqf2daVP3yI
